Former Foster Dog Linus!!!
Yep, you heard that correctly! Linus was officially adopted this past weekend (it’s been a busy week and I haven’t had time to share the good news)! I am so excited for him because I know he’s in the best possible home for him! They will love him bunches, he will have two canine and one feline friends to live with, and he will be accepted for who he is.
I must admit, I really miss the little guy. I don’t think I got any more attached to him than the other fosters but he was just so easy to live with and such a funny character that the house is a little empty without him. I miss smushing his face while he slept on his back in my lap and cuddling with him in the mornings. But I know he’s in the best place possible for him!
His new mom and dad are fantastic. They actually committed to adopting him about a month ago but they patiently waited for him to gain confidence and learn to cope in the big scary world. We got to do a few meet-n-greets along the way so the two resident dogs could get to know him (and Linus could get to know his new dad) and it was really great for Linus, I think, to help in the transition. He got to feel somewhat comfortable in his new home before the big day.
His new family is totally committed to taking things a bit slow integrating all 3 dogs together and working with Linus’ mild separation issues. It sounds like things are going well so far, Linus has gotten to play with his new siblings Schooner and Niko one on one and the play has been great! They had one group of three session that didn’t involve any ‘fun policing’ by either of the resident dogs so that’s a big improvement already!
He has even gotten the chance to spend part of the nights snuggled in bed with his people (a luxury he was not permitted at my house more than just a few minutes before bed time). I am so excited that he landed in the perfect home, with two other awesome little pups, and with people who love him for who he is, even if he’s a little quirky.
I will be honest and also say I’m glad he ended up living really close to me so I can visit him every now and again (after a few months, I want him to really settle into his new home).
Good Luck Linus and family!!
