Our website holds a huge amount of information about our pricing, location, and services.  It is also the only way to sign up for private training or group classes.  You can find the answers to some popular questions below and bypass the wait time by doing some looking around and using the sign up functions on our website.

We respond to emails Mon-Fri and while we try to respond to emails as quickly and thoroughly as possible, please allow for 5-7 business days for a response (though it is often much faster, it just depends on our current email volume).

Where are you located?

We are located on the North Shore area in the Spring Garden neighborhood, about 1 mile away from Wigle Whiskey’s Barrel House.

1932 Spring Garden Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15212  and our smaller training room at 1924 Spring Garden (same plaza).

What's your upcoming class schedule?
You can find our full class schedule on our Register for Class page.

However, the best way to stay up to date on upcoming classes is to sign up for our newsletter

Our classes can fill very fast at times and we announce the schedule and open up enrollment to newsletter subscribers several days before we open registration to the public, to give our students first access.

What behavior issues do you work with?

Tena is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and sees aggression issues, reactivity issues, phobias, anxiety issues, frustration issues, resource guarding, dogs with human directed bite histories, and dogs who have more complex issues. Complex issues could include many mild/moderate issues, even if none are severe.

Our other certified trainers on staff see mild to moderate levels of reactivity, resource guarding, arousal issues, over excitement issues, and more.

We see mild/moderate levels of separation distress but refer out to specialists for more severe cases of separation anxiety.

What are your prices?

Our group classes are generally 7 weeks long (1hr each week) and start at $195 for basic classes. Classes that are smaller in size, include an evaluation, or have included materials will be a bit more expensive.

All of our private training starts with a 2-hour initial consultation that is $300.  You can see our full package options on our pricing page.

Vaccine Requirements?

All dogs who come to SJC group class must be up to date on core vaccinations.

Adult dogs should be up to date on rabies, parvo, and distemper vaccines.  We accept titers for parvo/distemper within 3 months of class starting for adult dogs after full puppy series.

Puppies should have at least 1 round of distemper/parvo vaccines and continue their vaccine protocol as recommended by their vet (boosters every few weeks). Puppies need their rabies vaccine by 16wks old per PA law.

We require puppies show proof of clean fecal test or recent worming (withing 1 month of class starting).

What type of training does my dog need?
Many dogs can be successful in group classes if they need to work on basic manners like sit, down, leave it, focus, four on the floor.

If your dog is showing signs of fear, aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety, trouble specifically in your home, or they are not comfortable around dogs/people/new places, private training is your best bet.

Private training is more typically very narrow in focus for your specific dog and your specific challenges.  Group classes are broad in their scope with lots of topics covered.

Is class price inclusive?

Yes, the $195 (or group class cost) is for all 7 weeks of class, it’s not per week.

How do I sign up?
If you know you need private lessons, head over to our Book A Consult page and follow the instructions there!

If you know you want a group class, visit our Register For Class page to see all of our currently available group classess.

What's the phone #

Current clients will be given our phone number in their confirmation emails or you can email us to schedule a phone call, but due to the number of robo calls we get every day, we are no longer accepting phone calls from unknown numbers.

We will be on winter break from 12/20 – 1/6/25!  We need this time to catch up on paperwork, website updates, deep cleaning the training center, preparing for 2025 and more things we’ve gotten behind on during the year. We will be checking emails less often and will get back to it when we get back to the office.

If you are happy to wait a few days, we will get back to you as soon as possible. If you don't have specific questions, you can use the buttons above to get the common questions answered and navigate our website to sign up for an initial consultation for behavior problems or group classes.
