I feel like I’ve posted this over and over again… dogs playing at the pond… Shayne jumping off the rocks, Rio swimming with toys, Bandit coated in mud. You’ll have to tolerate one more post like this (at least). On Friday we took the dogs to the pond and it was just a gorgeous day! Low 80’sF, sunny as can be, a nice breeze, and only moderately high humidity (beggars can’t be choosers). The dogs had a great time just wondering the property, chasing the turkeys, hunting mice in the grass, and chasing squirrels through the woods, all while I watched from a distance. It’s so amazing watching the dogs do their thing… use their noses, use their brains, hunt down their ‘prey’ (they don’t actually hurt critters just enjoy the hunt). For domesticated animals who have relied on humans for most everything for many generations, they are pretty proficient seekers.
After some “be a dog” time, we got down to some real work… playing ball and swimming!
…and at the end of the day, Shayne finds a comfy place to get into my lap… with her dripping gross tennis ball… uhh… sorry Shayne!
Who was it who said that more of a good thing is … better? I don’t know, but I think it certainly applies here. There is such joy in these photos – they are dogs doing what they love, and spending time with the person they love, and I don’t believe the joy is diminished one iota because it’s all been done before. It was obviously a great day, and I appreciate being able to “come along.”
Awesome photos! I wish I had a place where I could do this with Toby again. It’s been so long since he’s been able to just run and play without worry of other dogs and what not. I miss my mom living in the country.
Very fun post!
I just love the pics with you and the pups. Such good photos 🙂
Can’t ever get tired of seeing puppies having fun!
Super cute! I love watching your dogs play, especially since it’s been way too hot to take our boys out all that much where we are. We took ’em to Doggy Daycare today just so they could get some social interaction & burn off some of their pent-up energy 🙂
Oh man, I hear ya, we had two weeks of “to hot to do anything” weather and it was AWFUL… the dogs were driving me nuts! At least they are good candidates for doggie daycare so they have that option to burn energy and have fun with a bunch of dogs either in the AC or have the AC to cool off in after play time! Plus YOU don’t have to be otu there sweating like crazy!
Amen to all of that 🙂
They told us that unlike almost every other sibling set in there, Jake & Duncan aren’t glued to each other throughout the day. Makes sense as Jake is more the friendly but introverted type (he’s down with other dogs but would really just prefer to sit in a corner chewing a tennis ball into a slobbery mess) & Duncan is still the puppy-ish “Let’s play! Forever!” type.
The tennis-ball-in-mouth pictures are to die for. I’m obsessed with cattle dogs, but both your pups are gorgeous! Thanks for the great photos!
